The Committee would like to take this opportunity to remind players about the seriousness of umpire abuse in the SAAFL. Any player who is reported for umpire abuse can expect a minimum 3 game suspension from the league and you just need to review tribunal cases this season to realise how serious they take the matter.
There was an example on the weekend where one of our players was charged by the league and will now miss finals action as a result. Other Clubs who have had multiple players go up to the league on similar charges have now been kicked out of the league.
The Committee takes the matter very seriously and we would like to remind players that any form of umpire abuse is completely unacceptable. The Committee fully supports the SAAFL zero tolerance approach and any player charged with umpire abuse can expect a lengthy ban from the league that will be supported by the Committee.
