Ian Alfred Wallace was educated at Prince Alfred College between 1948 and 1951 but passed away on the 17th of August, 2016, aged 80 years.
Ian played 304 games for the PAOCFC in 1952 and between 1955 and 1970 and was the second of only five Old Reds to achieve the 300 game milestone for the Club.
An athletic & attacking wingman, Ian played in the 1958 and 1966 A Grade premierships, won the A Grade ‘Best & Fairest’ medal in 1963 and was A Grade Vice-Captain from 1962 to 1964.
Ian was the ultimate Club Man – he trained well, played hard and was always ready to lend a hand around the Club – including serving on the Committee from 1963 to 1965.
Together with Ian McKay, Ian Wallace was the instigator of ‘Rock with the Reds’ – the legendary social event that survived until the late 1990’s and which simply wouldn’t be allowed these days!
In recognition of his contribution to the Club, Ian was inducted into the Club’s Hall of Fame in 2012. Ian will be sadly missed but his legacy survives through both the strength and success of the Club.
